MD2 is wired directly to the mains circuit and to the heaters and requires recessing into the wall. If this is not practical consider the Herschel iQ T2 Wireless Thermostat.

The MD2 thermostat will operate your Herschel heater(s) by turning them on if the room temperature is lower than the desired temperature and turning them off once the desired temperature is reached. The MD2 is easy to operate, featuring a large digital touchscreen display and incorporates the latest EcoDesign energy-saving features including Herschel’s open window technology.

MD2 has a keypad locking feature to prevent unauthorised tampering making it suitable for commercial applications such as hotels, care homes, student accommodation and let properties.  The MD2 is a 16 amp thermostat enabling up to 3.6 kW of Herschel heaters to be connected.

Functions include:

• Optional App control via the SmartLife app;
• 7 x 1 day programmable, 6 periods per day;
• “Comfort” and Economy modes;
• Window Open Function (shutting off the heating if a rapid drop in temperature is detected until you override this or wait 1 hour);
• Time of Day;
• Target Temperature control (up to 45°C, making it suitable for specialist high temperature applications such as hot yoga studios);
• Keypad lock.

The perfect heating control for simple room use. It incorporates the very latest energy-saving technology and can operate stand-alone, or can pair to the SmartLife App to allow you to manage your heating via an App.

The T2 is very easy to control and very well designed and work seamlessly with Herschel’s infrared heating panels. This single zone control pack comes with an R2 receiver and a T2 thermostat.

What can the Herschel T2 Thermostat do?

The Herschel iQ T2 Wireless Thermostat has a very clear backlit digital control display and easy-to-use functions including:

• Time of Day;
• Target Temperature control;
• 7 x 1 day schedule with 4 times of day; Eco and Manual modes;
• Window Open Function (shutting off the heating if the temperature drops more than 2°C in a 15 minute period until you override this or wait 1 hour);
• “Adaptive Start” that ensures your room is always at the right temperature with the least energy use;
• Wall-mounted or Free-standing.

What can the Herschel iQ R2 Receiver do?

The iQ R2 Wireless Receiver has the following additional capabilities:

• 1 hr “Boost” function;
• Unlimited R2’s can be paired to a T2,to control more heaters in the house (all receiving identical commands from the T2).
• Acts as internet gateway for the T1 when app control using the SmartLife app is wanted.

Herschel iQ R2 Wireless Receiver

Technical information

When working with the T2 Single Zone Control, the R2 receives its commands from the T2. Multiple R2s can be added to a single T2 (e.g. if the zone is very big) but they will all receive the same commands from the T2. (And a new zone would require a separate T2 and R2s).

The first R2 in a zone acts as the internet gateway for the T2, allowing you to manage your heating from the SmartLife App.

An R2 can control up to 2kW of infrared heaters (10 amps) on a 230 volt circuit.

Herschel Inspire – White Frameless Infrared Panel Heater

The classic white Herschel Inspire infrared heating panel is the perfect energy efficient solution to help reduce your energy bills and modernise your heating system. Unlike conventional electric heaters which heat via convection, infrared heating panels use far-infrared, a form of radiant heating, to heat surfaces. This is the same sensation you get when feeling the sun’s warmth on an otherwise chilly day and is very different from heating the air.

Herschel Inspire infrared heating panels are 100% efficient, transforming 1kWh of electricity into 1kWh of heat. They can therefore save you money when replacing electrical convection heaters.

What are infrared heating panels?

Most normal heaters heat a space by warming the air – this is known as convection heating. Our infrared heating panels produce far-infrared, which is a much more efficient way of heating. The far-infrared travels out of the panels unimpeded until it gets absorbed by a solid object – namely floors, walls and you.
