Herschel’s glass infrared heating panel is suitable for any room in your home, office, salon or yoga studio. It keeps you warm and penetrates into the wall to dry out any damp and prevent mould.
Infrared is a great alternative to traditional convection heating. The panels emit (safe) radiation that hits solid objects such as walls, furniture (and you!) and warms them directly. This means you are not paying to heat air which then escapes through the thermal envelope. As a result, infrared heating panels are efficient and cheaper to run than central heating systems.

Herschel iQ MD1 Wired ThermostatHerschel iQ MD1 Wired Thermostat
MD1 is wired directly to the mains circuit and to the heaters and requires recessing into the wall. If this is not practical consider the Herschel iQ T1 Wireless Thermostat.
The MD1 thermostat will operate your Herschel heater(s) by turning them on if the room temperature is lower than the desired temperature and turning them off once the desired temperature is reached. The MD1 is easy to operate, featuring a large digital touchscreen display and incorporates the latest EcoDesign energy-saving features including Herschel’s open window technology.
MD1 has a keypad locking feature to prevent unauthorised tampering making it suitable for commercial applications such as hotels, care homes, student accommodation and let properties. The MD1 is a 16 amp thermostat enabling up to 3.6 kW of Herschel heaters to be connected.
Functions include:
- 7 x 1 day programmable, 6 periods per day;
- “Comfort” and Economy modes;
- Window Open Function (shutting off the heating if a rapid drop in temperature is detected until you override this or wait 1 hour);
- Time of Day;
- Target Temperature control (up to 45°C, making it suitable for specialist high temperature applications such as hot yoga studios);
- Keypad lock.

The perfect heating control for simple room use. It incorporates the very latest energy-saving technology and can operate stand-alone, or can pair to the SmartLife App to allow you to manage your heating via an App.
The T2 is very easy to control and very well designed and work seamlessly with Herschel’s infrared heating panels. This single zone control pack comes with an R2 receiver and a T2 thermostat.What can the Herschel T2 Thermostat do?
The Herschel iQ T2 Wireless Thermostat has a very clear backlit digital control display and easy-to-use functions including:
- Time of Day;
- Target Temperature control;
- 7 x 1 day schedule with 4 times of day; Eco and Manual modes;
- Window Open Function (shutting off the heating if the temperature drops more than 2°C in a 15 minute period until you override this or wait 1 hour);
- “Adaptive Start” that ensures your room is always at the right temperature with the least energy use;
- Wall-mounted or Free-standing.
What can the Herschel iQ R2 Receiver do?
The iQ R2 Wireless Receiver has the following additional capabilities:
- 1 hr “Boost” function;
- Unlimited R2’s can be paired to a T2,to control more heaters in the house (all receiving identical commands from the T2).
- Acts as internet gateway for the T1 when app control using the SmartLife app is wanted.

Technical information
When working with the T2 Single Zone Control, the R2 receives its commands from the T2. Multiple R2s can be added to a single T2 (e.g. if the zone is very big) but they will all receive the same commands from the T2. (And a new zone would require a separate T2 and R2s).
The first R2 in a zone acts as the internet gateway for the T2, allowing you to manage your heating from the SmartLife App.
An R2 can control up to 2kW of infrared heaters (10 amps) on a 230 volt circuit.

These are superb value. We bought 2 of the Select infrared panels last year, but we spoke to Henry (who has been fantastic both times we have dealt with him now) who let us know that these XL glass panels are currently on a special offer and therefore the price is near enough the same as the Select panels. They still provide the same comfortable level of heat, but they are far sleeker than the more basic panels. Would thoroughly recommend – great value!
