Description

Insulating your loft is one of the cheapest ways to cut down your energy bills. In a home that is not insulated, up to 25% of the heat will escape via the roof space.

Insulate your Home with 100% Natural Premium Sheep Wool Insulation!

For thousands of years, sheep have been using their woollen coats to protect themselves from the cold. Taking advantage of the unique insulating properties of sheep wool in the home is therefore incredibly beneficial.

Our Premium Sheep Wool is the 100% natural way to insulate your loft, helping to provide a thermal barrier which dramatically slows down heat loss through the roof space.

Unlike some other sheep wool products available on the market, our Premium Sheep Wool insulation is 100% natural with no man-made fibres interwoven within it or glues holding it together.

What makes Premium Sheep Wool Insulation Such a Good Insulator?

Sheep wool offers a number of unique properties that help give it incredible thermal and acoustic insulating performance.

The wave and crimp of the wool fibre helps it trap air and slow down heat loss. Because sheep wool is breathable, its performance doesn’t drop even if it becomes damp. By nature, sheep Wool is incredibly durable; so it can be stretched, bent and compressed and will still retain its thermal insulating properties for several decades.

Our Premium Sheep Wool product has a higher density than our standard Comfort Sheep Wool (20kg / m3 as opposed to 14 kg/m3). It is therefore ideal for those ‘vertical’ applications such as rafters or walls, in addition to insulating the joists in your loft. The increased density of this Premium product gives it even greater thermal insulating properties as well as making it the perfect solution to acoustic problems.

One of the nicest things about our Sheepwool insulation is that you can work with it without the need of protective gloves or a mask. Unlike glass wool or rock wool, our Sheep wool insulation is completely irritant free.

Other suppliers of sheep wool insulation in the UK often interweave the wool with polyester. Here at The EcoStore, you will only get 100% pure sheep wool – so give it a try today!

Measuring your Loft Space

If you need a bit of help with sizing your loft space, to ensure that you choose the right product please click here for the guide.

The table below should help you understand the costs and dimensions of our different Sheep Wool products.

Please note that even though a particular product may cover a larger area, you may require multiple layers to achieve the required thickness to hit your target u-value.

Sizing & Dimensions Sold

Length Thickness Width Coverage Area
4m x 3 100 mm 380 mm 4.56 m2
4m x 2 100 mm 570 mm 4.56 m2
3m x 3 150 mm 380 mm 3.42 m2
3m x 2 150 mm 570 mm 3.42 m2

If you would like to install Premium Sheep Wool insulation to current building regulations standards (U value of 0.16 W/m2k), you will require a total depth of 224mm (so one layer of 100mm and one layer of 150mm would beat it comfortably).

The fibre glass stuff really is nasty stuff. Took us a week to have it all cleaned and disposed. Hoping the sheepwool we bought will help us sleep better and make the quality of air in upstairs bedrooms more bearable.

We bought two packs from your shop a few weeks ago with the infrared heaters. Primarily we wanted to use this to insulate between the wooden beams above the cold garage. As you said the product is easy to handle, although we had some problems separating it out, but that is probably as ma an my wife haven’t done much DIY before. Will come back for the comfort for the loft hopefully shortly. Thank you very much.

I am glad I bought sheepwool for my loft. I didn’t wan’t that itchy fibreglass stuff in there. This makes it a lot more pleasant to go into the loft. I am not sure I would go for premium over comfort again however.

The wool has been installed in my new loft conversion. Me and my wife chose sheepwool because it is such a good product to have in your house rather than the price. The installers had a lot of questions on how to install it, but we believe this was because they weren’t rather knowledgeable compared to Henry @TheGreenAge who knew what he was talking about. They had to extend the joists so they could fit the extra thickness. But we knew this, which is why we went for sheepwool rather than celotex.

We bought this sheep wool on the recommendation of a friend – it is absolutely perfect for us. We opted for the premium because it is a bit denser, but the great thing is that it is so nice to handle. No more itching for days after venturing up into the loft. GreenAge delivered it 2 days after order too – so very quick! thanks very much!
